I love cooking and trying new recipes, especially recipes that use ingredients that I don’t use regularly. I’m such a foodie and will try anything once. I love trying out recipes that not only taste amazing but are healthy too. Choosing quality, wholesome ingredients when I cook is really important to me. I am a firm believer that it’s important what we put into our bodies. Sun Basket uses organic produce and sustainable ingredients which is a huge bonus because many meal delivery subscriptions do not offer this. Their meat and seafood is hormone free and you do have the option of getting organic meat as well.
I loved opening up my Sun Basket box and seeing all the fresh ingredients inside. I knew they were only the highest quality ingredients and if they can’t get organic produce they sub out a different organic produce for the recipe to ensure that it meets their high standards.
Different Meal Plans
What super unique about Sun Basket are their different meal plans you can choose from. They have a “regular” menu that offers a wide variety but then they also have specific menus to cater towards any specific dietary wants or needs. They offer Paleo, Gluten-Free, Lean & Clean, Vegetarian, Mediterranean, Vegan, Pescatarian, Diabetes-Friendly, and Quick & Easy meal plans.
What’s also cool is that you can mix and match between the different meal plans. The possibilities are endless and you’ll never get bored.

What I love about using Sun Basket is having everything sent to my doorstep. And I totally feel like a kid on Christmas because I love trying new recipes and exploring new ingredients. When I picked out my meals I choose ones that used different ingredients to spice up maybe a more normal meal.
Sun Basket really does make it super easy to make a healthy meal. Everything comes portioned out and you get a recipe guide that walks you step by step on how to make each recipe.
I highly recommend skimming over the directions to see if you can do something out of order to make it faster. That’s one thing I noticed, it took my longer but I could have been doing two things at once very easily. I’m assuming they are catering to someone who maybe never cooks so the directions are perfect for that. But once I skimmed over the recipe and knew what I was doing, instead of blindly making it, I was able to go faster.
What’s really nice about Sun Basket is that you can try it out without signing up long term. Try it out for a week and see what you think. Or maybe you are going on vacation and don’t need the meal delivered to your door---you can easily skip that week. Or for whatever reason you don’t want to continue using Sun Basket you can cancel at any time no questions asked.
This isn’t my first time using Sun Basket and definitely won’t be my last. I love that I can pick my own healthy meals from a variety of meals and that it’s then delivered right to my door. It’s so fun to open the box and see all the fresh ingredients that I will get to use and create a yummy meal with.
Picking meals is super easy too. You choose the week you want it delivered which is helpful so you can check your calendar and make sure it fits your schedule for that week. Then you can choose from their classic menu, family menu, or from a specific meal plan. I chose from the classic menu and they make it effortless to find gluten-free meals. I chose the Braised Chicken With Mushrooms, Artichokes, and Almond-Olive Relish, Steak with Chimichurri and Harissa-roasted sweet potatoes, and the Superfast Pesto Penne with Chicken, Fennel, and Parmesan.
The box arrived and I immediately brought it inside, opened it and did a little happy dance. If you haven’t figured out by now, food is my love language. So yes, I most definitely did a little happy dance having healthy, new meals to explore arrive at my front door.
And I love Sun Basket’s packaging, each meal has it’s own brown bag, clearly labeled with the specific meal and all the ingredients you need inside. Making it very convenient to store in the fridge and ensures you won’t lose or misplace any of the ingredients.
There was a really nice recipe booklet that came in my box that included all the meals for the week. This is what I used while I was cooking and it has super easy step by step directions. If you are new to cooking this makes it so helpful or if you already know your way around the kitchen it was nice to not have to “think” during the process.
We all loved the meals I receive and they were really good portion sizes too. Easy to make and it was such a fun adventure using new and different ingredients that I don’t buy every week. I actually have an Easy Pesto Penne in my Fall Meal Plan so why in the world did I choose the one from Sun Basket? I was so drawn to the fresh pasta, and the addition of the parmesan and fresh fennel. It was fun to have a different take on a pesto pasta which was a huge hit. My husband loved it too.
Here’s a quick review of each of the meals I chose:
Braised Chicken With Mushrooms, Artichokes, and Almond-Olive Relish
I have actually had this in the past and loved it so much that I knew I had to get it again. The flavors in this dish are so rich. I love anything with artichokes and the almond-olive relish is so easy to make and combine such good flavors with the braised chicken. I could go on and on about this dish with how yummy it is.
Steak with chimichurri and harissa-roasted sweet potatoes
You just can’t go wrong with steak and sweet potatoes. I honestly didn’t even know what chimichurri was but I was excited to try something new. I did modify this a little bit because the harissa spice was too spicy for me (I’m a wimp!) so I just left it off. I really loved how fresh the chimichurri is and the fresh herbs plus lime juice were a yummy combination with the steak.
Superfast Pesto Penne with Chicken, Fennel, and Parmesan
This was probably the easiest meal of them all and my husband’s favorite one too. I loved the addition of the fennel and the parmesan made it just a little creamier and richer. This made a ton of food and we had leftovers which is always a bonus!
I highly recommend giving Sun Basket a try. Being pregnant has changed my cooking habits a bit aka I don’t want to cook anything!
