{THE BEST} Tomato Sauce

Ya'll this homemade tomato sauce is seriously the best sauce EVER. Like lick the spoon and plate good!

Turkey meatballs, {THE BEST} homemade tomato sauce & sautéed collard greens = AMAZING. I haven't had collard greens in forever and last night I was reminded how much I enjoy them.

I tend to get in a rut of eating the same things over and over. One it's easier and two I don't mind eating the same meals on repeat. But I want to start switching things up and buying ingredients we don't eat on the regular. Do you tend to eat the same things all the time?

As promised and as requested I am putting the recipe up for the tomato sauce! I actually found it on Buzzfeed when I did a 2 week detox years ago! The detox was a little brutal {aka the hunger was real} but I found some really good recipes that I still make today! I typically double it so I can freeze a jar or two for later use. 


1 TBS olive oil

1 medium yellow onion, roughly chopped

1/4 tsp salt

pepper to taste

1 medium carrot, peeled, roughly chopped

3 cloves garlic, chopped

2 TBS balsamic vinegar

1 15 oz can diced tomatoes

6 basil leaves, roughly chopped (can you dried!)


Heat olive oil. Add onion, salt, pepper, cook until softened. Add carrots & garlic & cook until carrots are softened. Increase heat, add balsamic vinegar. Add tomatoes & basil. Bring to a boil then simmer. Cover and simmer for 45 minutes. Uncover and simmer for another 10 minutes. Let cool for 10 minutes. Blend in blender.
